Lady Gaga's - Born This Way Make-up Tutorial

If you haven't watched the viciously pumping 'Born This Way' music video by the iconic Lady Gaga yet, get a watching Beauties! Lady Gaga sports out-of-this-world looks and we got the inside scoop from key celebrity makeup artist Billy Brasfield aka "billy b" who was on set with "Mother Monster." A bit shocked to hear, Billy said there wasn't anything to mask on Lady Gaga's face since her skin is beautiful. "We wanted to do as little on her skin with just a little bit of foundation," says Billy. See the makeup breakdown on how Billy glammed up Lady Gaga!

FACE Foundation

You would have thought Billy slathered a range of foundations and concealers on Lady Gaga during her "Mother Monster" and leather-chained bikini scenes, but he did just the opposite. "I wanted her skin to breathe and to use what she already has--fantastic skin," says Billy. "The choreography was amazing and she had to dance like crazy for hours, so I used a sheer liquid foundation. I used the foundation to cover any darkness because concealer would have been too heavy for the look we were going for."

"With all the dancing and sweating, I had to make sure her eye makeup was budge-proof so this was a duo step process," says Billy. He first used MAC Smolder Kohl Pencil to line the upper lash line. "Because the MAC eye pencil is so emollient, it's easy to move around. I used a stiff angle brush and with a flick of my wrists, I winged the liner out to create the "template" for the eye." Billy then layered MAC Fluideline in Blacktrack on top of the eye pencil to set it. "Once you create the template, it's just like a coloring book. You just need to go in to refine it." A bit surprising, but lashes were not used Lady Gaga. "She has a beautiful lash line so all I needed to do was curl her lashes and add a few coats of the blackest of black mascara."

EYES Mother Monster

"Gaga has gorgeous eyelid space, a defined crease and a beautiful contour so we went basic with the makeup," says Billy. He filled Gaga's eyelids in half-moon shapes in three layers: MAC Fluideline in Blacktrack first, a black eyeshadow next, and a touch of MAC Eyeshadow in Cobalt on the ball of the eye for a blue pop.

LIPS bikini scene

Lady Gaga sported her MAC Lady Gaga Viva Glam lipstick for the perfect neutral lip. "I first used a pinky-beige lip liner [similar to MAC Lip Liner in Subculture] to fill in her lips. I layered Viva Glam on top to finish it off." says Billy.
